Cookie Statement
Last updated: 25 October 2026 · Version 1.0
This statement explains cookies and similar techniques in the Green Compass web version (greencompass.site) and in the app.
No cookie banner — and why
Under the Dutch Telecommunications Act, storing or reading information on your device requires consent, except for storage that is strictly necessary to provide a service you explicitly requested. Green Compass only uses that last category, so there is no consent banner. We do not follow you and we do not build a profile.
What is stored on your device
- gc:* keys in localStorage (web) or in a local database (app) for favourites, saved places, filters, language and settings — strictly necessary, kept until you clear them.
- Offline map tiles, only if you download a region yourself in Settings; you can delete them there.
- Nothing else: no advertising identifiers, no analytics cookies, no social plug-ins.
Third parties
- Supabase (EU region) stores and serves the catalogue, pop-ups and reports, and receives technical connection data such as your IP address.
- OpenStreetMap tile servers deliver the map in the web version and receive your IP address and the requested tile coordinates.
- Apple Maps (iOS) and Google Maps SDK (Android) may provide native maps; they are part of the operating system and set no cookies for us.
No analytics or advertising
There are no analytics, advertising or social-tracking SDKs in this version. If we ever add them, this statement and the privacy policy change first and, where consent is required, we ask for it before anything is loaded.
Removing stored data
You can delete the app, or clear site data in your browser, to remove everything stored locally. Favourites and settings are gone then; the guide itself keeps working.
